How to Choose a Wet Wipes OEM Manufacturing Partner in India

8 min read

If you're a brand owner or distributor looking to launch or expand a wet wipes line, the manufacturing partner you pick will shape your margins, your launch date and your customer's first impression of the product. Here's what actually matters when you're evaluating an OEM factory in India.

1. Start with formulation flexibility

A good OEM partner formulates to your brief, not theirs. Ask whether they can do water-based, alcohol-based, herbal/aloe, and fragrance-free lotions — and whether they'll adjust a formulation based on your feedback after the first sample, rather than offering one fixed "house" formula.

2. Understand MOQ before you fall in love with a factory

Minimum order quantity is usually quoted per SKU, per variant — not per order. A factory advertising a "low MOQ" for one fragrance in one pack size may still require a much larger total commitment once you add variants. As a benchmark, 5,000 packs per SKU per variant is a common starting point in India, with many manufacturers open to a smaller trial run for a one-time setup fee.

3. Ask about in-house nonwoven converting

Factories that handle nonwoven converting, formulation, packing and batch coding under one roof tend to give more reliable lead times than those outsourcing steps to multiple vendors — fewer handoffs means fewer places for a launch date to slip.

4. Check quality control practices

Ask specifically about batch coding, sampling before bulk production, and a formal pack-approval step. A partner who insists on your sign-off before running the full batch is protecting your brand as much as their own output.

5. Confirm pan-India logistics

If you're planning to sell beyond one city, ask how the factory dispatches — palletised freight to a warehouse or 3PL is the standard for scaling beyond a handful of pincodes.

Quick checklist before you sign:

  • Can they formulate to your brief, not a fixed house formula?
  • What's the real MOQ once your variants are counted?
  • Is nonwoven converting and packing done in-house?
  • Do they sample and get pack approval before bulk runs?
  • Can they dispatch pan-India, not just regionally?
